This Spanish tattoo artist, specialized in precise and elegant tattoos that include floral subjects and Fineline works, creates at ‘Notre Tattoo’ in Gijòn.
Hi Xav, how long have you been a tattoo artist, and what made you choose this fascinating professione?
?I’ve been in the tattoo world for about 12 years as I started tattooing in 2013. Since I was little I always liked to draw, and when I was about 14 years old I started to paint graffiti. Thanks to that I met many people that besides graffiti also tattooed, and it was something that caught my attention. One day I tried to make a tattoo and here we are 12 years later…

How much talent and technique do you think lies behind your floral subjects and Fineline tattoos?
More than talent, I would say it’s about consistency. Technique is something you improve over the years with practice. The world of tattooing also evolves very quickly, new machines, new materials, so you have to stay up to date in order to progress. But I believe the most important thing is to be consistent and give 100% to each project to improve over the years.
Where do you think this “elegance” and this high level of precision in your tattoos come from? Is it something you’ve always had inside you?
I study a lot each project to make it “new” or a little more original. I also try to make sure that the tattoo fits well to the area of the body so that it looks as elegant as possible.
For me it’s very important that it looks nice and that the tattoo heals well over time.
When I draw the design I think a lot about the contrasts, the thickness of the lines, the black areas, etc. I try to balance all that as best as I can and make a unique design for each client.

Would you like to thank anyone in particular at this point in your career? Have you received much valuable advice from people in the tattoo art industry?
Yes, during all these years I have met many tattoo artists, and they have always given me a lot of valuable advice. Especially when you travel to other tattoo studios or do a tattoo convention, I think that’s when you learn the most. You always meet people who in one way or another help you to improve and keep growing, and in particular I would like to thank my partner Lorena (IG: @ladyshenone) who is also a tattoo artist and has always helped me a lot in my career.

Tell me more about your workplace, Notre Tattoo, in Gijón. What message do you convey to the clients who come to visit?
‘Notre Tattoo’ (IG: @notretattoo) is a studio that we founded in 2019. We are in Gijón, in the north of Spain and currently in the studio we are about six tattoo artists plus the laser technician and the manager. ‘Notre Tattoo’ is a very nice tattoo studio with a wooden staircase and many floors. It’s like our second home.
We try to be very professional and give a good service to all customers who come to visit us.

Have you already marked down any unmissable tattoo conventions and guest spots for Fall/Winter 2025?
Yes, for this Autumn/Winter I already have some guests in Europe and for next year I would like to do some tattoo conventions in the USA.

And your last famous words are… ?
Well, I would like to thank all the clients who trust in my work every day. Without them all this would not be possible.
