In the heart of Hawthorn, Melbourne, behind a discreet façade, lies a place that feels suspended outside of time. Our virtual tour begins at a door that reveals nothing of what awaits inside: once you step through, you descend into another realm. Ravens Hollow is not simply a tattoo studio, but a pagan sanctuary where Nordic influences, dark aesthetics, and artistic research coexist in striking balance.
Founded in 2019 by Kristian Kimonides and led alongside Harrison and Fabian Ardino, the studio has become a reference point for large-scale Black & Grey, Realism, and Dark Surrealism. Yet beyond style, it is the atmosphere that leaves the strongest impression.
The first steps lead along a walkway reminiscent of a woodland path: dim lighting, natural materials, and a sense of quiet suspension. The reception area is draped in fur, while bones and small trinkets evoke an ancestral, almost ritualistic imagery.
Then your gaze lifts upward: an imposing arch composed of more than thirty taxidermy ravens dominates the space. It is the symbolic heart of the studio, a threshold separating the everyday world from the immersive tattoo experience.
Beyond the arch, the workstations open into a spacious yet intimate environment where artistic dialogue flows freely. Here, tattoos are born from collaboration, creative freedom, and a desire to push beyond the expected.
Subjects come to life across full backs and fronts: witches, skulls, dark fantasy visions, realistic portraits, and surreal compositions interact with organic textures and bold contrasts. The impact is immediate, designed to be read even from a distance—leaving a powerful mark in the room before it even settles into the skin.
Ravens Hollow is also a place of growth. The influence of Jai Raphael—an exacting and unconventional mentor—instilled in the team the importance of seeking a personal voice, never settling for technical perfection alone, but constantly asking what makes each project truly unique.
The tour ends with a clear awareness: here, tattooing is not mere decoration, but a contemporary ritual. An experience that begins beneath an arch of ravens and ends with the feeling of having crossed, if only for a few hours, into another realm.
