Rooted in Korean artistic tradition yet reimagined through a contemporary lens, Rizn’s work bridges ancient aesthetics and modern sensibility. Working between Seoul and Busan, Rizn has quickly developed a distinctive style that feels both meditative and powerful. With a background in fine arts and a degree in Korean painting, Rizn translates natural elements and symbolic imagery into timeless tattoos that embody calm, harmony, and inner strength.

Hi Rizn, where are you from and where do you live?
I was born in South Korea, and I currently live between Seoul and Busan.

How long have you been in the tattoo world?
It will soon be five years since I started tattooing.

How did you first get into it?
Not long after graduating from university, I suddenly felt a strong, almost fateful urge to learn tattooing, as if I were naturally being drawn to it. During my university years, I had little interest in tattoos and knew almost nothing about the field, so it still feels mysterious how that passion suddenly emerged within me.

Your tattoos are very interesting: they carry Asian tradition in the forms you choose, as if they were ancient paintings. How would you describe your tattoos more deeply to our readers?
My tattoos are rooted in Asian aesthetics, reinterpreted in modern ways. I like to combine natural elements, symbolic imagery, and clean composition, creating designs that feel both timeless and personal.
I aim to create tattoos that are not only visually striking but also meaningful and enduring for each client.

Where do you take inspiration for your style?
I used to think that my inspiration came from external cultural experiences, but now I feel it comes from everything I encounter in my daily life. It’s the things that unconsciously make me pause, the objects in my home that reflect my taste, and whatever I’m drawn to in any given moment.

Do you have a background in art school?
Yes, I do. I graduated from both an arts high school and an arts university, majoring in Korean painting.

Are there particular subjects you especially love to work on, I mean the ones that really define you?
If you look at my tattoo designs, you’ll notice a certain consistency in themes and motifs. I tend to work with natural elements, symbolic imagery, and traditional aesthetics. But more than any specific subject, what I truly pursue and love to express is the balance between visual strength and inner calm. I aim to create designs that are visually powerful yet harmonious and peaceful, something that resonates deeply with both the wearer and the artwork itself.
