Discovering a Danish tattoo artist who works mainly at the ‘Dropout’ in Copenhagen, but also operates in the United States, to pursue his artistic vision of horror.
Christian, when did that fire that made you become a tattoo artist start burning inside you?
It started from a very young age. I was always super interested in tattooing, and when I was a young boy ‘Miami Ink’ came out, and that became my entire life! When I finished school, it was clear to me that I wasn’t able or interested in having a regular job so I pursued the career of a tattooer.

Why the horror vision of tattooing in your artistic imagination?
I think as most boys, we like the villains in cartoons; they are the ones that look the coolest! So my inspiration started from that. I talk about monsters such as the Hydra from Hercules, and Jafar as the Snake Monster.
Some people think it’s because I have a dark mind, but I just really like cartoons.

Why the freehand technique? Does it give you more freedom when creating your visions on other people’s skin?
I have a graffiti background, and the technique of creating something on the spot comes from that. For many years I did regular designs for my clients, over time, my work gradually evolved into freehand. It gave me a much better idea of body flow and allowed for greater artistic freedom!
Are artists like Paul Booth and Bob Tyrell among your main influences? I’m referring to that very detailed and dark style of tattooing, often covering large areas like the head, full back, sleeves, and even down to the hands.
Paul Booth (IG: @paulbooth) is for sure on the list. I’m super inspired by other tattoo artists such as Stepan Negur (IG: @stepannegur), David Jorquera (IG: @david.jorquera) and Brandon Herrera (IG: @brandon__herrera) just to name a few.

If you had a time machine, do you think you would travel to other eras or are you happy to live in 2025?
Personally, I would’ve loved to be a tattoo artist in the late ’90s or early 2000s.I think it would’ve been fun to experience that era firsthand!

I read that you work by appointment and tattoo between Copenhagen, New York, and Las Vegas. Do you have private studios in each of these three locations?
I’m a resident tattoo artist at ‘Dropout’ (IG: @dropout_cph) in Copenhagen/Denmark, that’s where you will find me 90% of the time. The rest of the time you can find me doing guest spots around in America, but mainly Las Vegas, New York and New Jersey.
