Master in imaginative styles such as Comic, New School and Manga, Adam tries to calibrate the right timing and absolute quality in his tattoo studio in Poznan.
Adam, tell me a little about your journey into tattoo art: how many years have you been tattooing, and why did you want to become a tattoo artist?
I’ve been tattooing for about 16 years. My journey began with my very first tattoo on my own body. The moment I got it, I felt like I had been struck by lightning. I wanted to know everything about this craft. I was fascinated by the idea of transferring art onto skin. Back then, I was really into graffiti and tattooing quickly became my number one passion.

Your style is purely Cartoon/New School/Manga, based on both the expressiveness of your subjects and the use of color. Do you also enjoy creating original Manga subjects, or do you base your work on existing characters requested by your clients?
Most of my work is based on existing characters, mainly from Japanese animation, since that is usually what inspires my clients. Sometimes a client asks me to create a character based on their own idea or description… and I enjoy that kind of creative collaboration very much!

What was it like tattooing in Venice thanks to your participation in the last edition of the ‘Icons & Prodigies’ (IG: @icons_and_prodigies) tattoo convention?
I have such fond memories of Venice (IG: @icons_and_prodigies). I had an amazing time with friends and my beloved other half. It was also a fantastic convention where I could meet top artists from around the world. The highlight was the awards gala for the Crystal Needle. I was nominated as one of the five artists representing my style.
Everyone was dressed formally, which was very different from the usual black t-shirts we wear at tattoo conventions.

Can you describe your award-winning tattoo?
I received the award for my work overall in that style, which was an incredible honor. Even writing this now, it still feels surreal and I am very grateful.

Can you tell me more about the ‘Anatema Tattoo’ in Poznan?
‘Anatema Tattoo’ (IG: @anatema_tattoo) was founded by me at the end of 2012 in my hometown of Poznan. Over the years, the studio has fulfilled its main purpose. We create tattoos and enjoy total artistic freedom. I always wanted it to be a place without limits, for any style or artistic vision. The focus has always been on the tattoo itself.
Looking back, I think we have achieved that. I could probably write a whole book about the studio.

Why does your tattoo studio have that name?
When I first came across the word ‘Anatema’ (IG: @anatema_tattoo), I was already interested in tattoo art and immediately thought that if I ever had my own studio, I would call it that. As a concept, a curse or excommunication, it perfectly reflected our subculture, at least back when tattooing was more underground.

Do you have a goal you’ll be working toward throughout 2026, confident you’ll achieve it within twelve months?
I do not have a specific professional goal for this year. My focus is on enjoying every new piece of work and making sure I continue to find joy in what I do. On the personal side, I became a father a few weeks ago and that is now my number one goal, to do it as best as I possibly can.

A tattoo convention or more than one where we will definitely see you in 2026?
In January, you can catch me in Paris at ‘Mondial du Tatouage’ (IG: @mondialdutatouage). In April, I will be at ‘Gods of Ink’ in Frankfurt (IG: @godsofinktattooconvention). I will definitely visit Venice again for ‘Icons and Prodigies’ (IG: @icons_and_prodigies). I might attend a few more events, but combined with the guest spots I regularly travel for, my 2026 calendar is already full.

And your last famous words are… ?
Work your a** off chasing your goals but slow down when you are tattooing. Over the years, I have learned that rushing is the biggest enemy of quality.
