He was the Nirvana leader, the accidental voice of a generation and the father of a cute little daughter. And then everything broke up with a terrible gunshot…

This sad story was told several times. Again and again. Kurt Cobain was born February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington, a place on which the boredom ruled (and probably still rules today). He was a happy child and an emotional teenager. Then he chose to become musician and, in the second half of the Eighties, started his band Nirvana. What a memorable name, Nirvana. Like the escape from desire and sorrow.

The group debut album ‘Bleach’ came in 1989 generating cult-status and then, two years later, the world breakthrough with the ‘Nevermind’ release including very well known tunes like ‘Smells like Teen Spirit’, ‘Come as you are’, ‘Lithium’, ‘Polly’ and many other punk gems. The mainstream pressure generated the ‘In Utero’ masterpiece in the fall of 1993. For fans and critics the best Nirvana album so far and a true landmark of the Nineties decade. And then everything went wrong. Terribly wrong.

On April 5, 1994, 23 years ago, in the guest house behind his Seattle home, a 27-year-old Cobain committed suicide. He placed a shotgun into his body, killing himself instantly. He left a lengthy suicide note in which he addressed his many fans as well as his wife Courtney Love and young daughter Frances Bean, barely two years old at the time. The ‘Unplugged in New York’ (recorded some months prior for MTV) would have delivered Nirvana to immortality instead.

Oddly the same day Cobain left planet Earth another Seattle rockstar – Layne Staley by Alice In Chains – would have passed away eight years later (2002). A very fatal and absurd coincidence…

This is our special tattoo gallery dedicated to the Nirvana leader and grunge fallen hero Kurt Donald Cobain. Obviously, we miss him a lot.
