Cherry Dollface has been a PinUp and tattoo model for many years, and is such an inspiration to many women. She is one of the realest women I know, and her positive attitude, kind heart and beauty shine through everything she does. I feel like she has finally found her true calling in teaching young women about everything vintage! Here’s a little Q&A I did with Cherry.
First off I really want to know how you got the name Cherry Dollface…
I got the name completely by accident. My name is Cherokee, so Cherry was always a nickname growing up. My ex used to call me dollface, so when I created one of my first email accounts I used it because I thought it sounded cute. The first magazine I was published in credited me that way, and then it just kind of stuck.
How long have you been a PinUp Model?
I have been a PinUp model since 2005.
When did you get your first tattoo?
I got my first tattoo when I was 19, and I didn’t eat or sleep for a week beforehand because I was so nervous.
How much of your body is covered in tattoos and are you through getting tattoos, or are you getting more?
I would say that about half of my body is covered in tattoos. I’m actually working on removing a big piece on my forearm right now, so that I can eventually get it covered up. I’m not sure what I am going to cover it up with yet.
Who is your favorite tattoo artist?
Eno at Big Trouble in San Diego, is my favorite artist.
What are your hobbies?
All of the boring stuff! I travel so much for work that when I am home, I just want to relax. I like to cook, read, workout and eat delicious foods.
How exciting your first book will be out in December of this year. Can you give us any insight on what it will be about?
Yes, I’m so excited. The book is called Dollface Vintage: An Everyday Gal’s Guide To A Vintage Lifestyle. It is basically exactly what it sounds like. There are 5 chapters on all things vintage: hair, makeup, style, decorating your home and entertaining. It is super cute and kind of silly, and full of useful information and pretty photos. You can get it at workingclasspublishing.com
Explain your European tour that you are doing in Spring, and how people can book your class, see you, and or hire you.
I will be doing 8 countries in 5 weeks. I will be in Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Belgium. I will be doing a vintage hair and makeup class and PinUp photoshoots in each city. They are starting to sell out quickly. You can email me to book and for information at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Tell us something nobody would ever guess about you. I hate cherry print stuff!
Hahaha, it happens to be the most unfortunate nickname. I also hate cherry pie.
What are your goals for the future?
To keep inspiring people and making babes feel beautiful. I really try not to set goals in stone, and instead focus on what makes me happy year after year. It is always changing.
