«My original partners Erik Reith and Jason Kundell and I decided on the name Seventh Son in 2006, when we opened the shop. We were listening to a lot of blues and rock songs and noticed that they mention the “seventh son” quite a bit. If you listen for it, you’ll hear it in songs by the Rolling Stones, Willie Dixon, The Animals, and Iron Maiden, too. In folklore, the story of “The Seventh Son” is based on the belief that any seventh son of a seventh son has supernatural abilities or powers. The number seven has a long history of mystical associations, and the story of the seventh son has lots of interpretations in different cultures. In some stories the seventh son has healing powers, in some the seventh son is cursed to become a werewolf; it’s an intriguing story, and we thought it would be a unique name for a tattoo shop…»
