While album number 36 from the band that came out with ‘Tattoo You’ shuld arrive by the end of 2018, we discover that their energy in studio is as high as ever.

If there’s any truth to the rumours, we should soon (some say by the end of this year) have our hands on the new album from the Rolling Stones, the thirty-sixth of their venerable career as well as the first since ‘A Bigger Band’ cam out in 2005.

Yes, it’s true, because this is going to be an album made up of unpublished material, unlike 2016’s admittedly excellent ‘Blue and Lonesome’ which was a collection of historic blues tracks given a classy new twist by Mick Jagger and the band.

It was actually the celebrated frontman to put out the first rumour about a new album: “Yeah, I’m writing,” Jagger told the Irish media, “and it’s mostly for the Stones at the moment. I don’t really think about what I have written, much. I just keep ploughing forward, really.”

And the hype was only increased by Don Was, the band’s highly respected producer ever since he first got involved in the excellent ‘Voodoo Lounge’ in 1994: They definitely wrote some new songs, and they’re definitely not done making records,” he revealed to a British magazine, “and the energy, when you’re in the recording studio with them, is still incredible!”

And then guitarist Keith Richards had to say his piece, speaking ddirectly to the American press: “By the end of 2018 we’re going to ry to get this famous new record out. We have some interesting ideas to work on and lately we’ve become very objective when it comes to evaluating material written by one another.”
