The Californian actor will be starring in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon”, but also appear in the new film directed by Quentin Tarantino. The news came out a few weeks ago but the hype is already high among fans (especially the females ones) of the Los Angeles born actor.
At forty-four years of age, Leonardo DiCaprio will once again be working under the direction of Martin Scorsese in a movie based on “Killers of the Flower Moon”, a bestseller written by the journalist from the New Yorker David Grann about the Osage, a Native American tribe who realised that there were oil deposits beneath their land. It will be the sixth collaboration between DiCaprio and Scorsese after major movies such as “Gangs Of New York” (their first time together on set in 2002) and “The Departed” (2006), but above all, the five Oscar nominations for ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ which came out in 2013.
Grann’s book – the source for the screenplay written by Eric Roth who won an Oscar for his work on “Forrest Gump” – is set in the Oklahoma of the 1920s when the Osage, on discovering an enormous oil field on their land, suddenly became the richest men in the world. They were killed off one by one in what, thanks to the FBI investigations, has gone down in history as one of the bloodiest crimes in American history. Imperative Entertainment, the production company behind “Killers of the Flower Moon”, has announced that the first scenes will be shot during summer 2019.
On 26th July next, the new film by Quentin Tarantino titled “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” will hit the screens, telling the story of the brutal murders of the Manson family in 1969, exactly fifty years before.
In this film DiCaprio will play the leading role as Rick Dalton (an actor in TV westerns) together with Brad Pitt (Cliff Booth) and Margot Robbie (Sharon Tate).
The cast will also include stars of the calibre of Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning and Kurt Russell and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” already seems set to be one of the cinema highlights of 2019.
