This week’s Have a Nice Weekend features Kelly Ann, a tattoo lover of Traditional black. Fashion, metalcore and grunge music are her big loves. She lives in Austin, Texas, and as she tells us in this interview: “Spreading the importance of self-awareness is key to me!”
Hello Kelly! Would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Kelly Ann. Nice to meet you all! I am a tall 27 year old girl who was born and raised in The Hague in the Netherlands. Currently living my best vegan life in Austin, Texas with my lovely husband and my fluffy cat. I may look extreme to some, but I am a very introverted grounded person on the inside. I am very passionate about helping people feel their best selves. Spreading the importance of self-awareness is key to me! And hoping I can launch my project on this subject in the future.
What are your interests? You’re really into fashion isn’t?
Fashion always has been a big passion of mine. I actually got a degree in fashion, and worked as a signed model in Europe. Besides fashion, metalcore & grunge music has always had a huge impact on me. I often combine the two!
When did you first get into tattoos?
My love for tattoos started at a very early age. My best friend’s dad in kindergarden/primary school owned a tattoo shop. So after school I would often hang out there as they lived above the shop. I was really fascinated with the industry, and besides that my dad is fully covered in tattoos as well. As a teenager alternative music was (and still is) my everything, I always loved the look of rock stars covered in tattoos. My parents made me wait till I was 18, and I am very glad they did. Less mistakes, ha ha!
Who has tattooed you and why your choice of total black tattoos?
My first tattoo was a lotus flower on my back in colour. As I was convinced that colourful Traditional tattoos was what I wanted at the age of 18. I am currently in the process of lasering it! As you can see, I ended up with all black work. Traditional black work matches every outfit! I just love it, so bold and clean. I got tatttooed by a lot of amazing artists all over the world. But most of my pieces are done by my friend Moira Ramone @moira.ramone, and I am currently obsessed with Justin Taylor’s work @justintaylortattoo. He recently did my hand tattoo. Another one I recently got done is a T-rex head by @benfiedler, stunningly detailed.
What do you do for a living?
I am currently working from home, mainly focusing on influencer jobs and some side projects that I have been working on. I used to work as a nurse the past few years!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to do anything creative, from DIY’s around the house to getting tattoos. But also sitting outside reading a book and sipping on iced coffee can keep me pretty occupied. My husband and I also go on hikes quite often, as Austin is so green and the weather is beautiful.
You are going to star in the feature Have a Nice Weekend for our readers, so would you like to say hello to them and tell them something about what you are doing in this period of lockdown and what your motto is?
I feel so honoured! It’s definitely a good time to slow down, and appreciate the little things. It’s a very strange and stressful time for the most of us! I try to occupy my time with working on my vegetable garden, and I recently bought a Nintendo Switch to play Animal Crossing with one of my best friends!
