Our model for the month of January wishes us all the best in the next twelve months with her mixture of undeniable charm and sensual ink.
Kassandra, are you proud to be featured on the first month of the brand new year? Tell me all about your experience…
I’m proud as hell to be featured as the January Tattoo Life Calendar Girl of 2020! Everyone who opens the calendar will see the great work of Christian Saint and me first for the whole month.
It’s a wondereful achievement in my young model career and I’m very grateful for that.
I heard that you were not all that well during the shoot. Is that true?
Yeah but working with Christian was actually very funny. I started my trip from Berlin to New York with a bad cold. On the day of the shoot, I fell down some very steep stairs at my cousin’s house in Brooklyn with all my luggage. I was in so much pain working in high heels but Christian made me feel very comfortable, like I was working with a friend I’d known for years. I totally forgot my troubles and we had a great 8 hour shoot.
When did you first discover tattoo art and what does this special art mean to you and your body?
As a teenager I grew up with tattooed people and so I discovered my love for tattoo art straight away.
I couldn’t get enough after my first tattoo at 18. I asked my artist to do the whole arm right there and then!
Let’s talk about your specific tattoos: why a black star on the upper side of your left arm?
That star is dedicated to my grandpa. He died at the time I wanted to do my second tattoo. He will always be the greatest and brightest star in sky and I’m sure he won’t mind the idea of being on my skin forever! (laughs)
You have the lettering “Love Hate” written on your stomach. Why? Do you feel a little bit torn between these two huge feelings?
Love and hate are so close, the most difficult feelings in the world. I think everyone knows these feelings in their own way, the good and the bad. So do I.
Who is that male character tattooed on your left thigh?
Here you meet my grandpa in person, a very old picture. My grandparents are both on my left thigh with a saying, wedding date and their initials.
Is the jellyfish on your right thigh a nice tattoo at all or does it have a meaning behind it?
The jellyfish is one of the creatures I saw a lot of while diving. I’m crazy in love with the Ocean and its creatures.
You are German so say something on your language (with translation, please) to Tattoo Life readers.
Kartoffelschnaps und Bockwurst! It means, “potato spirit and sausage” that’s so German! (laughs) This is from my favourite song “Frankfurt Oder” by the German singer Bosse! I grew up in this area. The song reminds me to enjoy the little things in life, how important it is to spend time with family and how wonderful it is to be home again.
