The Berlin Convention was back once again this year for its usual summer date (4-5-6 August). This legendary appointment with the tattoo world returned to bring a buzz to the Eichen Strasse Arena in the Treptow district, not far from the popular Kreuzberg.
The Arena, which looks out over the Sprea, is the idea stunning location to host a convention like this (one of the oldest in Europe!). And the event was humming with shows, music, contests, street artists and obviously a plethora of tattoo artists from all over the world.
As usual, the people attending the convention were the most interesting part of the spectacle: from hard-core head-bangers to new dandies, from pin-ups to hippies, folks here always have clear ideas about the quantity and quality of the ink on their skin.
Among the many talents from all over the world there was Julian Siebert (who won the Best of Show), Otto D’Ambra and NOON from London (UK), Yashka Steiner from Switzerland, Tchelo Stein from Brazil, Anjelika Kartasheva from Russia, Cristian Casas from Switzerland, and plenty of local tattooists from Berlin, Germany, all flaunting their skin art.
Take a look at our selection of photos and don’t miss our article in the next issue of Tattoo Life (October/November)!
If you’d like to enjoy the show in person you still ave plenty of time to plan a summer break in a city which really has tattoo at heart. See you there in 2018!
