Ducati North America announces Scrambler “MAVERICK” Project

The connection between the world of motorcycling and that of creative artists will now be one link stronger, as Ducati North America has chosen renowned tattoo artist GRIME with the distinction of being recognized as the first-ever Scrambler “Maverick.”

The Italian company named GRIME as their inaugural Maverick to shine a spotlight on his unique artistic talent, showcase his exceptional ability to effect change in the arts and his industry while highlighting his unwavering capacity for self-expression.

“By choosing GRIME as the first Maverick, we hope to establish a precedence for all future recipients” said Jason Chinnock, CEO of Ducati North America. “GRIME has always carved his own path, and as a result, he’s become one of the most respected tattoo artists with a distinct style, embodying free-spirited creativity, and the Ducati Scrambler represents these same attributes. GRIME’s diverse talent and his dedication to his craft make him the perfect person to be recognized as the first Maverick.”

Two Scrambler Mavericks will be selected by Ducati North America each year.

The Mavericks will work with their local North American Ducati dealer to customize the Scrambler Icon model utilizing only Ducati parts, fabrication and a modest budget. GRIME will have the responsibility of carrying the title of Scrambler Maverick until the next receipient is named.

“It’s an honor to be the first Maverick,” said GRIME. “I appreciate that each of us will put a unique stamp on the program through our own vision of the Scrambler. Thanks to Ducati and the work of Marin Speed Shop, the public is going to have a chance to own a special motorcycle, all to to benefit the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, a place that is very important to me.”

GRIME’s custom Scrambler was built in collaboration with the expertise of Ducati dealer, Marin Speed Shop in Marin, CA. It features a blue color palette and angular, 80’s motocross style-cues, and debuted at the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin, Texas during MotoGP race weekend in April. A series of other showings are planned for the summer. The one-of-a-kind Scrambler Maverick build will be offered through eBay for Charity to support the Shiners Hospital For Children – an organization chosen by GRIME himself. All proceeds will go to the charity.
